MEF 9

What is the MEF-9 Carrier Ethernet Certification Program all about?

MEF 9 is an innovative service-oriented test specification. Carrier Ethernet Certification Program is designed to ensure global equipment/services compliance to the MEF standards and eventual interoperability.

• Defines tests that can be applied to Ethernet Service Types defined by the MEF:

  • E-Line Services (EPL and EVPL)
  • E-LAN Services

• MEF 9 opens the way for future service-oriented test specifications based on MEF services specifications

• MEF 9 tests conformance of Ethernet Services at the UNI where the Subscriber and Service Provider areas of responsibility meet

• MEF Phase1 Certification Tests are based on MEF 9: Abstract Test Suite for Ethernet Services at the UNI

•Certification Tests are defined for the three Ethernet Services defined in MEF 6

  • EPL Services
  • EVPL Services
  • E-LAN Services

ELAN

• MEF 9 defines a series of tests to verify that Services delivered to the Subscriber across the UNI are conformant to MEF technical specifications

•Specifically MEF 9 tests two sets of the MEF defined Attributes of Ethernet Services:
–the EVC Attributes (An EVC is an association between two or more UNIs)
–the UNI Attributes (User Network Interface)
